Budding artists are invited to join the fun this summer at the Posh Paint Pub Summer Art Camp. The camp offers fun and creative art projects for children and teens ages 5 and up. Posh Paint Pub offers not only pottery painting, but a look into the lives and art techniques of the old masters, creating a space for art direction and fun within the camp classes offered.
At the Posh Paint Pub, kids work with charcoal, oil pastel and watercolor, as well as clay. Adding salt to a watercolor painting makes for that special glisten and children of all ages love hand building with clay. Campers can make mermaids, picture frames, cat and dog bowls and more, while building self-esteem and creativity. The Camp Director uses a method called “Teaching by Example”, making learning fun and easy.
Posh Paint Pub Summer Camp offers 1 day, 3 day and 5 day art camps each week, beginning May 28th through August 10th, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, with before care available. There is a different theme for each day of camp. Monday is Pottery Painting, Tuesday is European Artists, with a focus on Art Lessons, Wednesday is European Artists, with a focus on Canvas painting, and Thursday is Clay Building. Every Friday is Fun Friday, where anything goes.
Young artists dive into art and the artist lives at PPP Summer Camp. For example, while creating an imaginary drawing like those of Marc Chagall, campers may discuss when and where he lived and what may have influenced his magical art work. While painting a water lily garden, campers read a story about the life of Monet. All ages love hearing about the artists’ real lives and where they can visit to see the real paintings that the artist painted. Sometimes the campers even put a price on their beautiful paintings for a sidewalk sale.
Some of the comments from previous years include "This is my favorite camp that I go to all summer", "My children look forward to this camp every year", "My son keeps asking me when do I go to the Posh Paint Camp", "I love to make things out of clay", "I love painting", "I didn't know you teach on the famous artists from the past" ....the list is endless.
Posh Paint Pub is relocating and will be settled into their new studio space by April 30th. The new location is in the Metairie Shopping Center at 1509 Metairie Road, next to Lee's Hamburger, off Codifer and right across from Walgreens. The studio is in the same parking lot with Aucoin Hart Jewelers, Zeke's and MJ's.
