Description
Family Gras is the perfect getaway for family to enjoy the first weekend of Mardi Gras. A FREE event, this year it will be held at Clearview City Center at 4436 Veterans Memorial Boulevard. With crowds surpassing 80,000 each year, it’s big family fun just outside the Big Easy! Bring your kids to enjoy the traditional spectacle of Mardi Gras parades, authentic New Orleans cuisine, local art at the Art Market, a Kids' Court with face painting and interactive games, and free outdoor concerts by both national artists and Louisiana's own. The full lineup and schedule will be announced soon. Don't miss the Mardi Gras 5K and Kids' Half Mile on Saturday, February 15th. This is a family-friendly run/walk and the race finish will coincide with Family Gras! A big part of Family Gras are the fabulous parades rolling directly next to the Family Gras festivities. Enjoy the Krewe of Excalibur on Friday evening, the Krewe of Caesar on Saturday evening and the Krewe of Kings on Sunday evening. Check the schedule for parade routes. The Flambeau Food Court vendors "cook up" a good time with such favorites as jambalaya, crawfish pasta, muffulettas, pizza, and gator-on-a-stick, plus desserts like bread pudding and king cake. The concerts are free but you can get VIP treatment by purchasing a Royal Pass ticket online or on-site during the festival. Buy VIP tickets here.
