SCHOOL OF ROCK YEAR-ROUND
School of Rock is an extra-curricular performance-based music school that creates a fun and engaging way to learn how to play musical instruments, combining one-on-one instruction with group rehearsals and culminating every semester in a live show at a real venue around town. With programs for ages 4 - adult, there is an offering for everyone, at any skill level. With a unique, proprietary methodology developed over the past 20 years, School of Rock blends traditional music instruction with modern tools like the School of Rock Method App and a vast database of Rock songs to create an experience for every student, surpassing any other music program on the market. When combined with the group element, rehearsing and learning songs together, it blends the leadership and team-building skills of a team sport with the discipline and satisfaction of learning an instrument, building social skills and confidence to equip every student with critical real-world abilities.
School of Rock Metairie / New Orleans offers a FREE Demo Lesson to anyone who wants to tour the school, meet our instructors, and have us assess the student for placement in one of our award-winning programs.
With our group sessions for ages 4 - 7, lessons and rehearsals for ages 8 - 18, a Songwriting Program, and an Adult Performance Program, there is literally something for everyone!
Our esteemed School of Rock Houseband plays several shows a month, and we have events happening every month leading up to a big School of Rock Music Festival at the end of every semester! Most shows are free to the public or have a small cover charge for an all-day ticket.
With locations in Metairie, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, and the BRAND NEW Northshore school in Mandeville, you won’t have to drive too far to find a School of Rock near you!

More About School of Rock's Program
Little Wing: 4-5yr olds - group-based instruction learning about music and instruments through fun musical games. 45-minute weekly sessions.
Rookies: 6-7yr olds - group-based instruction focused on learning all the instruments we teach - bass, guitar, drums, vocals, and keyboards. The students spend time learning about each instrument by playing parts of songs, rotating instruments throughout the weeks, and performing a little show for the parents at the end of each month. 60-minute weekly sessions.
Rock 101: 8 - 13yr olds. For Rookies graduates and beginners, once a student has picked the instrument they want to play, Rock 101 offers 1-on-1 weekly 45-minute private lessons coupled with a 90-minute weekly band rehearsal, learning how to play their instrument through songs they play in a band setting. There are two shows a year at an actual music venue that Rock 101 students get to perform in.
Performance Program: 8 - 18yr olds. For students with some experience, or older beginners, the Performance Program offers 1-on-1 weekly 45-minute private lessons coupled with a 120-minute weekly band rehearsal, learning how to play their instrument through songs they play in a band setting. There are four shows a year at a real music venue that Performance Program students get to perform in.
House Band: 10 - 18yr olds. For experienced students currently enrolled in the Performance Program, the House Band comprises some of the school's best musicians. Once an audition has been passed, House Band is the band that gets to play all of the shows around town, and are the official ambassadors of School of Rock. House Band typically plays an additional 10 - 20 shows a year in and around New Orleans.
Adult Program: 18+ Adult Program is for anyone who always wanted to play in a band or anyone who wants to play in a band again. All skill levels are welcome and offer weekly 1-on-1 45-minute private lessons coupled with a 120-minute weekly band rehearsal, learning how to play their instrument through songs they play in a band setting. The Adult Program plays 2 - 3 shows a year at a music venue around town.
