At Vamonos NOLA, we are committed to providing a summer camp for all language levels where PLAY is the cornerstone for learning the Spanish language and culture as we tour through a Latino country each week.
As moms with over 20 years of experience in education, we also know what’s important to you: small groups, personal attention, loving teachers, communication and a safe, healthy environment where your child feels included, makes friends, builds confidence and is HAPPY! Our dedicated staff of fully fluent adults are CPR certified and are each supported by a mentor teacher and/or volunteer, providing an 8/1 ADULT to camper ratio.
Our program use play to explore a different Latino Country each week and provides a healthy balance of OUTDOOR FUN with water play, soccer and recess along with ENGAGING ACTIVITES such international cooking, innovation, art, theater and dance. Special guests like Capoiera, (Brazilian martial arts), Zumba for Kids, Soccer Shots and the Tumblebus (mobile gymnastics) bring the action to us and service learning projects are part of our leadership and team building program. With Spanish operating at the core and in the background of these activities campers won’t even realize how much Spanish they are absorbing, but they will notice the FUN!
To fully reap the benefits of a second language, we stay open the ENTIRE Summer (May 20th-August 23rd) with sibling, military, teachers and free & reduced lunch applicant and multiple session discounts. We also understand the dynamics of a family life, which is why we offer flexible, weekly sessions for children ages 5 – 10 years old. The fun begins at 8:30am – 3:00pm, with before care starting at 7:30 and aftercare until 5:30pm each day.
In addition our Jr. Counselor Program, is an incredible leadership opportunity for young adult ages 11 and up to practice their Spanish and experience the power of contribution and invaluable leadership skills volunteering with our younger campers. (Apply for an interview via the website).
At Vamonos NOLA, we’re giving kids a leg up and making the world more accessible by bridging language and culture through play-based learning. Whether your child has no Spanish language experience or comes from a bilingual household, our goal is to send them home proudly displaying their new skills and having planted the seeds of a life-long love of learning language!
