The New Orleans riverfront has a new shady green space for your family to enjoy! On Thursday, June 19, 2025, City of New Orleans and Audubon Nature Institute leaders officially cut the ribbon to open the latest update to Woldenberg Park.
Located in front of Audubon Aquarium, this new green space features beautiful shade trees, lush new plants, upgraded lighting, and a short walking path. It is designed to visually connect the Aquarium Plaza with the existing plantings and trees beautifying the foot of Canal Street.

Part of the popular Woldenberg Riverfront Park, this new green space continues to improve the park by providing additional shaded spaces for locals and guests to the city to enjoy the Mississippi riverfront. Bring the kids and enjoy watching all the activity on the river, and of course, a visit to Audubon Aquarium and Audubon Insectarium is a must.
The project was funded through $5.39 million from City of New Orleans Capital Outlay and Audubon funds. Phase Three of the Woldenberg Park improvement plans is still in the planning stages. Supported by a HUD Community Project Funding award and Audubon funds, Phase Three is designed to increase accessibility to the riverfront park.
