Step into the holiday season with this special event - The Spirit of Christmas! Take the family to see the wonderful Christmas lights at Destrehan Plantation in the beautiful Alley of Oaks! Destrehan Plantation is only 25 minutes from New Orleans and 10 minutes from the airport. The kids will love all the fun activities at The Spirit of Christmas including pictures with Santa, Santa’s Workshop, Christmas caroling, Christmas stand-ins, light projections, holiday treats and pony rides for the kids. The event is open from 5:30-9:30 pm. Free parking is available. Purchase tickets here!
The event, named after one of Greater New Orleans Therapeutic Riding Center’s therapy horses “Spirit”, is presented by the Greater New Orleans Therapeutic Riding Center and Destrehan Plantation and held next to the Plantation Home in Destrehan, Louisiana, off Exit 6 from I-310.

The Spirit of Christmas Walking Tour
The Spirit of Christmas Walking Tour is a 1/4 mile walking tour that winds through 5 acres of stately oak trees. The tour sports over 70 lighted frames, 50 Christmas trees, a lighted tunnel, and features The Cajun Night Before Christmas, by Trosclair, with permission from Arcadia Publishing. The cost is $5 per person. Children four and under are free. Plus all the fun activities listed above, including pony rides by Pony Tales! $5 a ride!

The Creole Christmas Combo Tour
The Creole Christmas Combo Tour includes a walking tour of The Spirit of Christmas Lighting in the Alley of Oaks AND a tour of the stately house with all of its festive holiday decorations.
During the House Tour, guests will walk in the footsteps of those who lived in the house for 128 years. See, hear, and experience the French customs of a Creole Christmas among the beautifully adorned home in traditional finery befitting the time and style of this historic home as you tour. Learn how both free and enslaved people who lived here shaped holiday customs, brought to life through unique decorations and accounts of the past.
Tours dates are time specific and are as follows:
Tour times are 6:00 pm, 6:30 pm, 7:00 pm and 7:30 pm December 6, 2024• December 7, 2024 • December 8, 2024 • December 13, 2024 through December 23, 2024.
