Experience the magic of early literacy with our "Grown-up and Me" classes tailored for children aged 4 months to 4 years and their grown-ups. Register for R.E.A.D. (Reading Enrichment and Development) to participate in our dynamic, early literacy program with your child. Our program is built around books, movement, music, art, and themed activities. Through creative play, children develop their skills and bring books and language into their daily lives. This class is designed to make positive connections between you, your child, and reading starting at an early age. Incorporating books into those special bonding moments helps children associate reading with positive feelings.
R.E.A.D. was created in 2002 by Marilyn Levin and is now led by Jenifer Kelly-Strauss, a former Pre-K teacher at Isidore Newman School, R.E.A.D. parent, and R.E.A.D. employee. At 4 months old, the youngest children join us for an extension of their earliest reading experiences – being read to while sitting in their caregiver’s lap. The older children engage in activities that focus on developing their early literacy skills needed to prepare their brains to read independently. Parents and/or caregivers attend and participate with their children, having fun learning techniques to use at home.
Registration for the Fall session is open! The Fall Session is ten weekly hour-long classes held from September 9th through November 14th. Classes are held Monday through Thursday. Start your child’s early literacy adventure today!
