Presented by New Orleans Ballet Theatre.
Featuring two of George Balanchine’s most famous neoclassical ballets, “Concerto Barocco” and “Serenade”. “Serenade”, with choreography by George Balanchine © The George Balanchine Trust, premiered in 1934 and is a sweepingly romantic work set to Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings. “Concerto Barocco,” with choreography by George Balanchine © The George Balanchine Trust and arrangement with the American rights holder, New York City Ballet, first premiered in 1941. One of his most famous plotless ballets with minimal costuming, the ballet is dedicated to the complete embodiment and visualization of the music, Bach’s Double Violin Concerto.
In addition to Balanchine's ballets, the New Orleans Ballet Theatre will also perform “Esplanade,” with choreography by resident award-winning choreographer Diogo de Lima. "Esplanade" explores themes of connection and separation, mirroring the ebb and flow of life itself.
