About Coach Sarah

My name is Sarah Crayton or Coach Sarah and I have been doing gymnastics and tumbling for about 15 years and choreography for about 3 years.

I love tumbling and gymnastics because:

It’s empowering. It’s also an art. It is a unique sport/activity as well. It provides so many benefits like: Improves your fitness, builds strength, helps with agility, improves balance, incorporates grace, and it gives you a skill set while teaching discipline. I love tumbling and gymnastics because it challenges you and gives you unique opportunities that you can use to turn it into a career. Most importantly I love gymnastics and tumbling because it’s fun.

I Believe kids should participate in tumbling for these reasons:

•Tumbling can help with a lot of other sports if you choose to participate in it in the future.

•Tumbling gives kids an outlet to release all their energy in a positive way.

•Kids will learn life skills throughout the challenges they face but in a safe environment.

•Tumbling offers so many benefits to their physical and mental health.

Background about myself:

There’s more to me than meets the eye, however I will start by saying that I am currently 23 years old. I have a Bachelors degree in Health Science and minors in Psychology and Human Development & Family Science. I am a “Mary Warren Award” recipient. In my Junior Olympic gymnastics career, I had the opportunity of being not only Tennessee state champion but also Mississippi state champion. I qualified for regionals and competed at the regional level nine times.

I’ve participated as the student team manager on the coaching staff at the University of Missouri (Mizzou) gymnastics team for 4 years. I’ve been coaching gymnastics about as long as I’ve participated in gymnastics. I’ve coached in 2 different states. I’ve received elite gymnastics training as well as accomplished all ten levels of my junior Olympic gymnastics career (or was a competing level 10 gymnast. I took ballet at a young age and continued learning dance. I work in the healthcare field along with choreographing gymnastics routines and other states. I am certified in the American Red Cross First Aid and AED training, as well as,I am a Basic life support (BLS) provider.

Kids at the YMCA will love tumbling because it’s fun, it’s safe, and they will learn some unique skills. If you love the feeling of freedom while flying through the air with the power to control your body in cool new ways, YMCA tumbling is for YOU!
