On Saturday, December 9, 2017, Celebrate the Holidays NOLA style at the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation (LPBF) 5th annual Lights at the Lake Holiday Bash from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the New Canal Lighthouse at 8001 Lakeshore Drive.
Along with caroling, book readings, and a live band, attendees will be able to watch the West End Christmas Boat Parade from the starting point at LPBF’s New Canal Lighthouse and vote on the Best Boat during the parade. Admission is free and open to the public. Public parking is available in the lots along Lakeshore Drive.
Dozens of local boat owners decorate their vessels with wreaths and lights and Holiday decorations and assemble at the New Canal Lighthouse to begin a procession up and down the New Basin Canal, along Breakwater Drive and through the harbor.
St. Rita School Sensational Singing Panthers and Shades of Praise Gospel Choir will sing Holiday songs and carols. Tracie Morris Schaefer will read her National Gold Medal book The Greenest Tree, which tells the heartwarming holiday story of what becomes of a tree after Christmas. Following the Boat Parade, local band Benny Grunch and the Bunch will perform live to keep the Christmas spirit flowing.
While enjoying the beautiful view of lights on the lake, attendees can dine on Bourbon House’s, Shrimp and Andouille Gumbo, Mother’s Jerry’s Jambalaya, Court of Two Sister’s, Shrimp Remoulade and Reginelli’s pizza.
