Strawberry Picking in Louisiana

With spring here, plan a strawberry picking outing with your kids. What a great way to be outdoors together as a family and actually pick your own food! Before heading out to any of these farms, please call ahead to make sure they are open that day.

Here are some places to go:

Mrs. Heather's Strawberry Farm
- Besides picking their own strawberries to take home with them, kids can learn how a strawberry grows, enjoy face and hand painting, tractor races, bouncing horse race, hipline, jumping pillow and a picnic area They are now open to pick strawberries. Everyday 9 to 5 until May 8. The cost is $20 per flat of strawberries. You can pick as a family. Located at 31458 Hwy 43, Albany, LA 70711

Liuzza Produce Farm
-  2016 dates, hours and rates not published on website yet. They state they plan to be open to the public every Saturday in April and say more details to come. Call 985.981.5788 or 985.429.9605 for more information. Update: I received an email saying they are open this Saturday April 2 and Sunday April 3, 11-3pm. I emailed back asking if they are open any other weekends...waiting to hear.

Landry Poche Strawberry Farm- U-Picking Grand Opening is April 23, 2016. The farm is open from 8-5 daily until 2 week of May, depending on the weather. Enjoy space walks and bounce slides for the kids as well as facing painting. Hot dogs, nachos, soft drinks and water for sale. The cost is $12.00 per gallon size (souvenir) bucket. Blahut Strawberry Farm - I'm listing this farm only to inform those that are familiar with it and looking for 2016 dates...they are no longer open to the public for picking. I called and spoke to owner Cathy Blahut Harris, who informed me of this status.
