Public Canoe Trips on Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service “Paddling Through Time: People & Louisiana’s Wetlands.” This program provides a leisurely guided paddle on Cane Bayou, one of southeast Louisiana’s iconic waterways. Paddlers learn how humans have interacted with and changed the land over time. The guided paddle includes both the natural and cultural history of the area as well as a basic introduction to proper canoeing techniques. The canoes have two seats for paddlers. Younger children will sit in the space between the seats. All equipment & canoes provided. There is no current, however occasionally you may need to paddle into the wind. Participants should plan on paddling for the majority of the trip.
Where: Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge
When: 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM The first trip is an evening paddle.Each excursion will last 2-3 hours. Future dates are 10/5, 10/19 & 10/26
Who: The trip is designed for adults, but children 5 and older may attend. Only children aged 10 and older will be allowed to paddle

Cost: Paddlers will be charged $10 and children 5 years old through 9 years old are $5. If you are a Friends of Louisiana Wildlife Refuges, Inc. member, your cost is $5 per paddler.
