Strawberry Picking in Louisiana

With spring here, consider planning a strawberry picking outing with your kids. What a great way to be outdoors together as a family and actually pick your own food! 

Here are some places to go:

Mrs. Heather's Strawberry Farm
 - Besides picking their own strawberries to take home with them, kids can learn how a strawberry grows, enjoy face and hand painting, tractor races, bouncing horse race, hipline, jumping pillow and a picnic area They are now open to pick strawberries. Everyday 9 to 5 until Mother's Day. The cost is $20 per flat of strawberries or $12 per half flat. For field trips it's $7 per child. Located at 31458 Hwy 43, Albany, LA 70711

Blahut Strawberry Farm  Located approximately 6 miles from Tickfaw State Park. Owner Cathy Blahut Harris suggests making a full day of it and going to Tickfaw State Park where they have great picnic facilities, a playground for kids, and a small water-park that is fun for young children. 2015 picking dates are not yet up on their website. Please call before going to this farm.

Liuzza Produce Farm, 985.981.5788 or 985.429.9605, is open to public on weekends beginning March 28th through May 3. Saturday hours are 10-3pm and Sunday hours are 10-2pm. Besides strawberry picking, kids can enjoy pony rides, face paining, horse drawn wagon rides, tire swings, petting zoo, and more! Jambalaya, hotdogs, chocolate dipped strawberries and more available for purchase.
