April 16, 2015
The 11th ANNUAL AUTISM AWARENESS FESTIVAL is Saturday, April 18, 2015 at First Baptist New Orleans (5290 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA). The event is hosted by the Autism Society of Greater New Orleans and is held at the same wonderful venue they've used the last two years with outdoor as well as indoor accommodations that will accommodate the Festival even if it rains!

The event will have lots of local agencies and resources, food, music, dancing, and a second line to demonstrate support for and pride in those affected by autism in our community!

What’s new this year? More of a festival atmosphere with entertainment acts like The Prism Project of Greater New Orleans, a karate demonstration, Star Wars guys, more autism awareness items to purchase in the store along with a greater number of local vendors selling amazing crafts and products! And once again the Disco Amigos kick off the Festival in the only way they know how – in their boogie shoes! Be sure to stop by the Autism Spectrum Therapies table to make your own ASGNO original second-line hankie to wave as you walk with pride!

Attendance has been wonderful in years past. This year, the Autism Society of Greater New Orleans hopes to have an even greater turnout so more people become aware of the contributions individuals with Autism make to our community. And participation by people like you will help to better serve their members in the greater New Orleans area through their information and referral phone line, Email list, Facebook page, and website; community and parent training events (e.g., Brushes, Buddies, and Beyond for Autism, Family Game Night, and Applied Behavior Analysis Training); and the Mini Grant Program that provides grants to families and teachers for purchasing materials and equipment that help students with Autism in their classrooms and children and adults with Autism in their community. And because they are primarily an all-volunteer organization, 100% of the money raised through your participation and generous contributions will go towards providing these services and meeting their mission.
