Researchers at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center - NO & Children’s Hospital are seeking adolescents with autism, PDD-NOS, or Asperger Syndrome and typically developing adolescents, 11-17 years old for a study of brain structure and function using MRI. Participation involves 2 visits and includes behavioral and cognitive testing, practice in a pretend MRI scanner, and the real MRI.
Behavioral and cognitive testing takes place at the Calhoun Campus of Children’s Hospital, located Uptown, near Audubon Park and takes about 3 hours. The MRI takes about 30 minutes and will take place at the Touro Imaging Center, located Uptown, at the intersection of Napoleon and Claiborne Avenues.
Each participant will receive a picture of his or her brain and be compensated $50 for the MRI portion. Participants will also receive a report summarizing performance on the cognitive testing.
