Come check out the Baby and Child Expo by La Leche League of Jefferson this Saturday at Lakeside Mall from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. As always, the event is FREE and open to the public!
Children are welcome to attend and can enjoy ponies to pet from Pony Tales, paint a canvas, play with a papchute and have their faces painted! All activities are free, there is nothing for sale, just fun for the whole family! We'll be there too so please stop by our table and say hello! It's always fun to meet our readers in person!
The goal of the event each year is to bring together different organizations in the community to share information with parents about healthy and natural pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and parenting.
Atendees meet doulas, midwives, massage therapists, fitness instructors, childbirth educators, lactation consultants, and more!
There will be 38 exhibit tables, door prizes, gift baskets, and 150 gift bags. The children can pet ponies, paint a canvas, play with a parachute and have their faces painted. All activities are FREE, there is nothing for sale, just fun for the whole family.
This event not only educates the community, it also provides La Leche League of Jefferson with funds to provide the following services:
•Hosting monthly meetings and answering telephone calls from breastfeeding women all over the Greater New Orleans area. Each woman receives information sheets and pamphlets free of charge.
•Printing and mailing 500 copies of a newsletter three times a year to parents and medical professionals all over the area, at no charge.
•Providing free information sheets and books to WIC clinics around the area. Purchase and donate books on
pregnancy, breastfeeding and parenting to libraries in Jefferson and St. Charles Parish.
•Maintaining web page where mothers can find information on La Leche League meetings.
•Providing mothers who attends La Leche League meetings with a free DVD with information on the importance of breastfeeding and basic information on getting started breastfeeding.
The goal of La Leche League is to provide information and support to breastfeeding women in the community. Information is power and La Leche League strives to empower the women in the community to do what is best for their health and the health of their babies.

Meet up with La Leche League leaders and other breastfeeding mothers each month, every 2nd Wednesday.

The meetings are FREE and open to all women interested in learning about breastfeeding.
Your children are always welcome at the meetings; please bring quiet toys to entertain them.You are welcome to bring healthy snacks or drinks to share. A library of parenting books is available for you to borrow.
A membership in La Leche League is $25. A copy of The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding is $20.
