DHA is Important For You and Your kids!
Giveaway!
By: Nicole Provosty
As a publisher for Macaroni Kid, I receive opportunities to check out products and in return write a review about them on my website. I rarely do them because I'm a tough critic and I don't want to be obligated about reviewing an item I possible may not like.
However, my interest peeked about a month ago when the founder of Macaroni Kid sent several publishers an email about checking out and reviewing three types of supplements containing Life's DHA, an all vegetarian sourced DHA. I had read about DHA and learned that essentially it is nutrition for our brains. I'm all about being healthy, so I jumped on the opportunity.
DHA is to our brains as calcium is to our bones. In fact, optimal infant brain and eye development and function depend on it. It's also important for everyone, not just infants. As a mom, you may want to read up about it and try implementing it into your family's life. My reveiw here of the items my family tried should help you.
My box came in the mail with three products to try:
•Flinstones Gummies complete multivitamin plus DHA omega-3 (life'sDHA)
•Xan Confections' CocoBrain dark chocolate orange truffles with DHA (life'sDHA)
•Expecta Lipil DHA (life'sDHA) supplement for pregnant and nursing moms
It also contained a coupon for Horizon Organic DHA Omega-3 Milk which I was excited about because that's the milk I buy and now I could get a free gallon!
So, my kids LOVED the Flinstone Gummies. No joke, they couldn't have made it any easier for me to write this reveiw because they truly adore these vitamins. My 11 year old especially. One night when I was saying good night to him, he said "I'm so excited for tomorrow." I was thinking there must be something fun going on at school and I asked him why he was looking forward to the next day. I kid you not when he replied "So I can take my vitamins!" They taste that good. Yes, they've got sugar in them, but the important DHA they provide makes the sugar part no big deal.
I gobbled down the Xan Confection's CocoBrain dark chocolate orange truffles and can report they were delicious!
Also, if you are concerned about your child's reading ability, here is some information you might be interested in. I also received a paper that explained a study involving 362 chldren ageds 7 - 9 years old who were underperforming in reading. The study reported that suplementation with 600 mg algal DHA for 16 weeks in these children improved their reading and behavior. Impressive!
