Wild Things

Wild Things is a great free event offering hands-on, outdoor activities in celebration of the National Wildlife Refuge Week on Saturday, October 15 from 10AM-4PM. Now in its 19th year, the event has grown into one of the best family friendly events in the state. Admission, parking, boat rides, tours, live animals and programs are all free!

Come take a canoe for a paddle or a pontoon boat tour of beautiful Bayou Lacombe. The hayride shuttle provides a fun way to get around the grounds with excitement and natural beauty around every corner. There’s something for the whole family at Wild Things!

What you'll find: Exciting speakers, interactive demonstrations, live animals, wildlife crafts, live music entertainment, grounds tours, canoe and pontoon boat rides. There’s something for the whole family at Wild Things! Food is available for purchase.

Wild Things is hosted by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service showcasing our area’s eight National Wildlife Refuges.

The event welcomes other wildlife and conservation-oriented organizations and individuals to share displays, presentations, and hands-on activities as part of a recreational and educational experience for the whole family.

The annual Wild Things Youth Art Competition and Show will feature hundreds of amazing paintings and drawings of wildlife and area landscapes from youth, ages 5-18, with contest winners announced at mid-day.
