16 Things to Do at the YMCA in 2016

Youth Development is the social-emotional, cognitive, and physical processes that all youth uniquely experience from birth to career. The Y knows that a successful development process fulfills children and teens’ innate need to be loved, spiritually grounded, educated, competent, and healthy. That’s why the Y offers age specific developmental programing involving arts, sports, creativity, and fitness. Help your child develop in 2016 and get them involved in one of the many activities the Y in Metairie has to offer! 

1.    Martial Arts : Ages 6-12
This martial arts program runs year round on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at varying times.

2.    Youth Hip Hop: Ages 6-12
This dance program runs February 15th – April 18th on Mondays at 4:45pm

3.    Kinder Dance : Ages 3-6
This dance program runs February 17th – April 20th on Wednesdays at 4:45pm

4.    Parent and Tot: Ages Walking - 2
This early childhood education program runs February 19th –April 22nd on Fridays at 9:30am

5.    Kinder Kids: Ages 2 ½ - 4
This early childhood education program runs February 19th – April 22nd on Fridays at 10:15pm

6.    Super Hero Training: Ages 2 ½ - 4
This early childhood education program runs September 16th – November 18th on Fridays at 10:00am

7.    Birthday Parties: All ages
We schedule birthday parties at least two weeks in advance via application for Saturdays and Sundays only.

8.    Kids Night Out: Ages 1-13
This child care program runs on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month from 6:30pm-10pm.

9.    Youth Sports: Ages 3-10
Sports sessions and workshop run on weekends at various times.

10. Summer Camp: Ages 4-13 (based on grade)
May 31st – August 5th Monday – Friday from 7:30am – 4:00pm. Aftercare is available.

11. Drawing and Cartooning: Ages 6-12
This arts programs runs February 2nd – March 15th on Tuesday and Thursdays evenings at various times.

12. Swim Lessons: As early as 6 months
Swim lessons run in two week sessions from May – September.

13. Leader’s Club: Ages 11-18
This leadership program runs weekly in the evenings for high school and college participants. Days and times carry.

14. Youth Wellness: Ages 5-13
This fitness program runs at various times during the week and allows the whole family to engage in fitness at the Y.

15. Kids Boot Camp: Ages 5-13
This fitness program runs year round on Mondays at 4:45pm.

16. Family Events:
Character themed breakfasts, movie nights and family swimming events are scheduled year round for families.
