Upturn Arts Summer Camp

At Upturn Arts, campers ages 3 - 16 participate in multi-disciplinary arts experiences while being exposed to all phases of the creative process. They’ll work with very talented master teachers, interact with like-minded peers and grow as creative individuals. Their time will be full of inspiration, fun, friendships and creativity. This camp is designed to fuel the dreams and imagination of your children. 


GENERAL INFORMATION:

·Camps are available for the following age groups: 3-5 years old, 6-8 years, and 9-16 years old.

·Camp runs daily from 9:00am-4:00pm. Campers will enjoy an age-appropriate movie from 2:30pm-4:00pm, and therefore can be picked up during that time.

·Before/After Care is available from 7:30-9am & 4:00-5:30pm. Before and after care can be paid for when you register online, at a cost of $100 for the full 2 weeks. If you choose to do a daily drop-in option for before/after care, you must pay in cash/check that day.

·The cost for the two week sessions is $550 if registered before 5/1/16. $600 after 5/1/16.

·The cost for the one week session is $275 if registered before 5/1/16. $300after 5/1/16.

·The one week session may also be attended as a daily drop-in, for a fee of $65 per day.

·The 3-5 age group will have a built-in nap time during the day and need to bring a nap blanket/mat.

·The 6-8 and 9-16 age groups will have a field trip on the first Friday of camp and a performance for friends and family on the second Friday of camp!

JUNE 13- 24       INTERNATIONAL CAMP
Around the world in ten days! Campers will discover world music from Folk to Indigenous melodies. They will learn about different types of theater such as: Kabuki , Commedia dell’arte and Noh theater styles. They will also explore ethnic dances from Africa to Spain. Additionally, campers will learn styles of visual art inspired by cultures all around the globe. This will be a great place for children to learn and experience diversity through multicultural artistic experiences.

JUNE 27- JULY 8        CampNOLA
This camp focuses on all things New Orleans. Campers will explore the culture, history, and art of their hometown. Upturn Arts teachers will share the lives of  musicians such as Dr. John, Fats Domino and Mahalia Jackson. Campers will create art inspired by the beauty they pass by everyday. Dancers will learn to second-line and strut their stuff and actors will play out some very traditional and uniquely New Orleans stories.

JULY 11- JULY 22        RECYCLE CAMP
In this camp campers will learn to reduce, reuse, repurpose and recycle. Campers will be given the opportunity to develop their artistic skills and engage with their peers while making original artwork with everyday objects. In theater new spins will be put on old tales. The dance and music classes will build on already acquired skills and turn them into new choreographed works and compositions. Campers will also explore the concept of sustainability as they turn waste into wonderful works of art.

JULY 25 – AUG 5        EARTH CAMP
Earth is the rock and soil under our feet, and it supports all the life on the planet. Campers will explore all of nature’s mysteries and magic! Campers will create works of art from nature’s many gifts. They will show their appreciation for living close to the earth through their dances, music and storytelling. As campers explore the earth, they will also grow more comfortable being artists and being their own true selves.

AUG 8 - AUG 12        CAMP EXPLORE - 1 week
 
Campers will use this week to explore their uniqueness and creative imaginations through dance, visual arts, theater, and music. Self-exploration as an artist will be encouraged. (THIS WEEK IS ALSO AVAILABLE AS DAILY DROP-IN)
