Electric Girls Fall Program

By Sponsored August 27, 2015
Electric Girls is an experiential education program that teaches girls the fundamentals of electronics, audio, programming and design and guides them to use these skills to design their own science and technology projects. The program emphasizes community and peer mentorship to develop girls into kind and confident leaders in science and technology.

Electric Girls works with young girls who need an open, creative, and motivating environment to build, program, create, and make at the intersection of arts and technology. Girls will build tons of different circuits and learn why they work, create interactive art installations, program their own electronic instruments, and much more.

25 girls attended Electric Girls Summer Camp throughout June and July at Loyola University. Here are a few things parents said about it:

"I loved the empowerment and promotion of self esteem in experimenting. I loved that she had an environment where exploration was rewarded, and encouraged."

"I liked that my daughter was exposed to things she hasn't been exposed to before and that
she came away with more confidence than she had about her ability to do these kind of things."

“Electric Girls is the best educational program for girls. [My daughters] absolutely loved it!"

"What is truly impressive about this program is that Serna has de-mystified these otherwise intimidating concepts in a fun way. Her students are utilizing what they have learned and are developing an enthusiasm for audio technology."                                                                                     - Antigravity Magazine
