Red, White & Butterflies at Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium

Friday, July 3, 2015 - Sunday, July 5, 2015

June 25, 2015
In a most unusual salute to Independence Day, Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium has created a patriotic display made out of red, white and blue butterflies and visitors are invited to celebrate the Fourth of July with butterfly-themed activities!  The fun flutters in on Friday, July 3, 2015 - Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

In conjunction with President Obama's National Pollinator Initiative, visitors to the Butterfly Garden and Insectarium will be invited to join the national bee and butterfly brigade and receive Burpee® seeds (while supplies last) to help protect the health of the nation's food security and help bees, birds and butterflies thrive and multiply. The President's National Pollinator Initiative is committed to sustaining the future pollinators through research, policy, education, and action.

Guests will learn about the interesting life histories of several butterfly species and their life spans, butterfly gardening, butterfly farming in other countries and the differences between butterflies and moths. Butterfly releases and chats are scheduled each day of the event at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m.

Throughout the Butterfly Garden and Insectarium, visitors will enjoy unique butterfly themed activities including up-close views of butterfly wings using a "scope-on-a-rope" camera and butterfly specimen identification by the Entomology staff in Field Camp.
